I am researching the George Powell family in IOW; George had a daughter Amelia who married a Thomas Gaskins before 1801; there is no recorded marriage bond in the IOW Courthouse, however, there are several chancery causes which state that a Thomas Gaskins was married to Amelia, daughter of George Powell.
Her brothers, James and George Powell, were named executors in the will of Edmund Fulgham; I do not know what, if any, relationship existed between them. Thomas Gaskins was named the guardian of Edmund's daughters Sally and Polly.
Was Amelia Powell married to a Fulgham before Thomas Gaskins?
Also, my Powell's were from Gloucester County, Va and migrated to IOW about 1768/9.
Is this your Thomas Gaskins?
