Posted by Ralph D. Blake A search of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints' (LDS) database has led me to possible ancestral connections to Isle of Wight County. Would you have any information regarding the Blakes who lived in the county in the early 1600s? Here's the information (my summary) from the LDS database (you'll probably only be interested in the last three paragraphs): Source: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp Grandfather Blake -- William Mitchell Blake was born on February 28, 1872 in Heflin, Alabama. He married Hattie in 1919. Hattie was born in Heflin on January 26, 1897. Grandpa Blake's father was James Henry Blake, born about 1847. He married Sarah Elizabeth Missouri REYNOLDS . James Henry's father was born in Georgia. His mother was born in South Carolina. His occupation: farmer. The LDS obtained the information from the 1880 census taken in Arbacootchie (sometimes spelled Arbacootchee). James Henry's father was William Blake V, born in Jackson, Georgia in 1804. William the 5th married Jane Armstrong about 1830. William the 5th's father was William IV, of course (unless there was hanky-panky). Wm. 5th's mother was Mary Rogers. William the 5th died in Cleburne County. William the 4th was born about 1770 in Wake County, North Carolina. He died in Hall County, Georgia in 1840. William Blake III was born in Wake, North Carolina about 1745. He died in Elbert County, Georgia in 1798. William Blake, Junior was born about 1713 at Isle of Wight, Virginia. His wife's name is not known. William Blake, Sr. was born about 1680 in Isle of Wight, Virginia. He married Mary Sessoms. William, Sr.'s father was Thomas Blake, born about 1632 in Isle of Wight, Virginia. He married Alice. Thank you. Ralph Bowling Green, OH
