Posted by Bob Lamb John and Micajah Webb were two sons of Charles and Elizabeth Webb of Southampton, Virginia. Charles Webb mentioned them in his will of 1758. Prior to being in Southampton, they were in Sussex/Surry on the Blackwater Swamp and Nottoway River. The Webbs can be found in the Albemarle Parish records. John Webb of Brunswick/Greensville was married to a Lucy. Micajah was married to a Martha. Who were these women? One of John Webb's children married a Cato. Her name was Temperance. Charles Webb, son of John and Lucy, married Delilah, the daughter of William Ezell and Susanna Seat, and migrated to the Union District of South Carolina by the 1800 census. Micajah Webb had a son named Kinchen Webb who married a Harris. Micajah's son Warren married Cidney Jane Walton. There were other children. Micajah Webb named one of his sons John Webb, Jr., while John named one of his sons Micajah Webb, Jr. Were their wives sisters? John Webb, Micajah Webb, Charles Webb, and William Ezell were among those who signed a 1787 petition for part of Brunswick County to become part of Greensville County. The Webbs and the Ezells who showed up in South Carolina were very strong in the Baptist movement of the late 1700s. Consequently, there were no more parish records of infant baptisms or births. John and Micajah Webb appear to be the grandsons of Robert Webb, Sr., of Surry County, Virginia. Records of Robert Webb, Sr., appear in the late 1600s of Surry County and Isle of Wight. Even if I already know who you are, please respond and tell your connection. It might help others. Thanks. Bob Lamb, Pine Bluff, Ark., son of Viola Webb Lamb.
