I don't have documentation for the record of Samuel Proffitt as the father of Wilson Proffitt. I got the information from the Winch database and from Fred Davis, both extensive researchers of the Proffitt family. Fred is very meticulous in his research and probably has some documentary proof. I don't have his email address handy, but he often posts on the Proffitt surnamepage of Rootsweb.com My line is from Sylvester through William Proffitt's brother, David, who came to what became Nelson County VA with his wife, Elizabeth Smith.
