My records show Wilson Proffitt as the son of Samuel Proffitt (1763-1840) and Molly Massey. Samuel was the eldest son of William Proffitt (1737-1794) and Sarah Thurston. William's parents were Sylvester Proffitt - the Jacobite - and Alice ? . Hope that helps.
