My Ellis' show up in Henrico (Western Division/Tuckahoe)and Goochland Counties and was wondering if anyone had any information to help me in my search. My gggg-grandmother shows up on the 1850 census for Goochland County as Mary Ellis (b. around 1815). After looking at marriage records, I believe that her maiden name was Brown and she married Hezekiah Ellis on Dec. 30, 1829. Her father's name was William Brown. Mary and Hezekiah had at least 4 children who appear in the census with Mary: Obidiah Ellis - b. around 1830/31 married first to Elizabeth Newman, whose father was Edward Newman on July 8, 1853, then married second, Sarah Blennock(Blenneck)from Goochland on April 19, 1881, her parents were William and Polly; Robert Ellis - b. around 1837/38 married first Elizabeth Blackburn whose mother was Elizabeth Blackburn on May 4, 1858, married second to Ellen Alley from Goochland on Nov. 28, 1865; Elizabeth Ellis - b.1840 married Richard Blackburn (later changed to Smoot) on Feb. 25, 1858.
