Thank you for your response! I wrote the message so long ago that I don't remember what I wrote. Whatever information you have would be great and I would gladly share what I have with you if you are interested. My father's family came from Dinwiddie and what I know is that my grandfather's mother's name was Ida. Her father's name was Robert. My family is African-American but my grandfather's father was a white man. What I've been told is that he was that he was raised by his grandfather (Ida's father) and got the name Winfield through him not his biological father. My aunt's have told me stories of having visited the "plantation" on visits to Virginia and that there was a white scottish plantation owner who would give them candy when they were kids. I don't know if he was or wasn't the biological father of my grandfather or not and I don't know if his name was Winfield. I was also told that Robert Winfield was from south america (Panama?) and that he somehow ended up a slave in Virginia. If that is true I imagine he would have had to have been a slave towards the end of slavery. Thank you again for your response! If you think you have anything interesting please let me know!
