Posted by Candace Young-Mayo This Samuel Hinton died somewhere around 1789/1790 and, as indicated, his will was probated in Dinwiddie. The Katherine is Catherine Sydnor, daughter of Anthony Sydnor and Elizabeth Taylor aka Eliza Taylor. Anthony and Elizabeth are my 5 great grandparents. I believe this Samuel Hinton to be the son of a William Hinton. This Wm Hinton, Sr. is pure speculation. Three Sydnors married three Hintons in Lancaster, VA. Small community and no other Hintons found. I believe all three of the Hinton children who married Sydnors were related and since there is a Wm. Jr. among them I am, for the nonce, going to assume that they were siblings with the father being William Hinton, Sr. Hope there is a kernal of help in this. Candace Young-Mayo

For what it's worth I found this tidbit I don't know where but maybe it will help:
"From court records of Dinwiddie County, abstracts, 1789 and 1790
Last will of Samuel Hinton, proved in Court by Joseph Whitehead, John Edmunds, and Mary Edmunds; the exors. named in said will &c. refused to take upon themselves the execution thereof--Joseph Whitehead, William Watts, John Pegram, William Sydnor & James Hinton the exors. Feb. Court 1789.
and
Katherine, widow of Samuel Hinton."
