I too am searching for information about some Dillards. My link is Lucy Minor Dillard, born in 1816. Her father's name was apparently John Dillard. She married William Mitchell in March 1830, whose family lived in southern Dinwiddie, in an area between McKenney and Stony Creek. William was apparently in the War of 1812---in his early 20s at the time. Lucy Dillard was born in Amherst Co., VA. I have been left to wonder about how Lucy (in Amherst Co.) and William (in Dinwiddie Co.) got together. I am not completely sure of the dates, but there seems to be quite some difference in age betweem William and Lucy. I have nothing to base this on, but since there were Dillards in that part of Dinwiddie, could there have been a family link between the Dillards in Amherst and those in Dinwiddie, leading to the union of William and Lucy? Some family names appearing in the next 2 generations of Mitchells that I cannot account for and, therefore, may have come from the Dillards, include Green, Withers, and Parham. I know that it is a long shot, but does any of this possibly connect with the research that you have done? Thanks, Tom
