Samuel Hinton (Jr.) that lived in Dinwiddie County in the 1780's was the son of Samuel Hinton (Sr.) that lived in Lancaster County, VA. Samuel (Jr.) moved to Lunenburg County, VA shortly before his death and we assume that he died there because the family continued to reside at Hinton Hill in Lunenburg County for some years after that. Among Samuel (Jr.)'s sons was a James Hinton who had his own land in Lunenburg County in the early part of the 19th Century. Another son, Presley, moved to Mecklenburg County, VA where he died in 1816 or 1817. Other sons, John and Samuel moved to Petersburg, VA and lived out their lives there.
