Posted by Jimmie Groves My great grandmother was Nannie Woodward born April 1865(Kentucky) whose father was James West Woodward ( a Union Captain in the War between the States). A Half-cousin did a Woodward geneology a few years ago and traced our lineage back to C.(Name?) Woodward, B. 1594 Worchestershire England and died 1650 in Charles City County ,VA. I understand that he was with the second group of ships to come to this area. However, I do not have the details of this information, such as when, what ship,etc. It seems our family was in James City Co. and Bedford Co. VA until sometime between 1734 and 1815 when William Woodward died in Green Co. KY. William's anacesters, tracing from C. Woodward are, George(b.about 1635), L.( b.1685), and Richard(b.1708)the father of William. I hope this is helpful. Do you have any other information?
