My maternal great grandfather was named Austin Charity, and he lived in Richmond, Virginia.
I met him in 1962 when I was eleven years old.
His daughter Alease moved to Brooklyn as a young
woman and married my grandfather, Allen Bluford from Gloucester, Virginia. My mother and I both
grew up in Gloucester although she was born in New York.
lives in Washington, DC where I also live today.
She is eighty-three and was born in 1921. There is one other daughter still alive in New York.
