Posted by Bill Davidson There was also a William P. Davidson in the Amherst/Nelson County area in the 1820s who was associated with the family of Giles Davidson, per a deed that I found (and he, or POSSIBLY another William P. Davidson (though I suspect that it was the same man), was associated with a Walker and a Stratton family in Campbell Co., VA, per another deed). I do not know who William P. (possibly Pendleton?) Davidson was, but per Giles Davidson's 1848 will, William was not his son (UNLESS William P. Davidson died before 1848). There was, however, a William Davidson on the 1830-1860 Amherst Co., VA censuses, but no middle initial was provided. Giles Davidson did have a son named Joseph whose middle name was apparently "Pendleton." I found some information on the Internet on the Pendleton family. There was a couple of mentions in that of a Germina Pendleton (as I recall), so that may have been the above Mina Pendleton (or a relative) who is said to have married Giles Davidson. Giles had a son named Micajah, and there was a Micajah Pendleton mentioned in this same Internet record. I may have found this Pendleton record on the Nelson County or Amherst County RootsWeb site, but I can't remember now. Anyway, your family may have connections in Amherst/Nelson, as well as in Buckingham.

This may help some. Edward Davidson of Buckingham Co., VA was in the Rev. War (served at Valley Forge). He was the son of David and Mary (probably Mary Giles) Davidson, and Edward died in Buckingham in 1827. He was married to Judith Pendleton, and she lived for several years after Edward died. One of Edward's several brothers was Giles Davidson, and he was also in the Rev. War. He is said by one researcher/descendant to have apparently been married to a Mina Pendleton. I can only assume that, if the above is correct, that Mina and Judith were probably related. Unlike Edward, Giles moved away and went to Amherst Co., VA sometime after the war, and he showed on various censuses there. Giles Davidson died in Amherst Co., VA in 1848.
