Ann, Joel Farguson is listed in the 1782 Buckingham tax list with a John Whitaker - 2 men over 21, 2 tithes. There is also Obediah Farguson, my 4th grgrandfather, and a John Ferguson. I've been trying to connect the four with no luck. Maybe you can - Good Luck!
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/va/buckingham/census/1782tax.txt. Beginning with 1764 there was also a Joel Farguson in the Lunenburg tax lists with sons Joel, Thomas, & Horatio. He had other sons William and James. I don't know if they are the same Joels, but I doubt it.
