I am looking for any information on my GGG Grandfather John Marion Norvell of Buckingham County, VA.I know he was a Sergeant in the 44th Virgina infantry.(Confederate)He was born in 1815 and died in 1871. His wife's name was Nancy (Evans) and according to the 1860 census he had 3 daughters Sarah E., Louisa F., Nancy and a son John.He was a plantation owner and his overseer was a Jacob Powell. By the 1860s census he had relocated to St Ann's Parish in Albemarle County, Va.If you have any information about him or his parents, siblings, children etc... I would greatly appreciate it.

JAMES NORVELL, (born 1775-6 Albemarle County, Virginia -died September 1855) married Elizabeth "Betsy" Gray (born ca. 1780, Virginia -died after 1852). They had:
1. James M. Norvell (born 1790-1800 -died 1859, Nelson County, Virginia).
2. John M. Norvell (born 1815 -died August 18, 1871, Albemarle County, Virginia of consumption) married Nancy Evans "Ann" NORVELL. They lived in Buckingham County in the 1850s. In 1861, he lived near Howardsville, Albemarle County, Virginia.. Lorenzo NORVELL (born ca. 1805) on February 14, 1828 married Martha Eubank. They had a son Woodson C. Norvell (born ca. 1831).
3. Catherine NORVELL married August 29, 1835 Albert Thomas.
4. Jane NORVELL (born 1820, Albemarle County, Va. - died May 18, 1868, near Howardsville, Albemarle County, of consumption) married October 9, 1848 Littleberry M. Powell.
5. George W. Norvell (born 1822 -died before 1852) married Martha A. Young. They moved from Boynton, Virginia to Davidson Co., Tennessee in 1843.
6. Lanivia F. Norvell (born 1822).
7. Woodson NORVELL (born 1828/9).
8. Martha P. Norvell (born in 1804 in Winfield, Putnam Co., WV - died about 1885) She married John B. Farrar, son of William Farrar, Jr. and Mary A. Bernard about 1825. John was born in 1799 in , Goochland Co., VA. He was a brick mason in 1879 in Buffalo Twp, Putnam Co., WV. He died on 25 Nov 1879 in Buffalo, Putnam Co., WV. Unknown cause of death at age 80.
9. Rebecca NORVELL married April 25, 1843 Holman Joopling.
10. Paulina O. Norvell married May 4, 1846 William G. Scruggs.
11. Maryann E. Norvell married 1) February 21, 1848 William H. Sowell; 2) a Mr. Garrett (1852-1859)
There is another John M. Norvell, son of John G. Norvell born in 1830.I wonder if there is a connection.
