I am researching the Datcher family of Charles County, Maryland and Washington, D.C. In doing so, I have been lead to Buckingham County where, a property owner by the name of Josiah Datcher (b. abt. 1775), his wife and their two sons under age 11 lived in New Canton, VA according to the 1820 Census. The Datcher name does not appear in Maryland or Federal public records before 1870. It does not appear in Washington, DC before 1820.
These Datchers claimed ownership of 13 people--some of whom may be antecedents of the Maryland Datchers.
If this is a name you have come accross in your Buckingham County research I would be most appreciative of correspondence with you.
