I am interested in finding descendants of any Howells from Buckingham back to 1750 or so. My supposed ggggrandfather was Elijah Howell (1764-1850) who first married a Nancy Ford in 1791 by Rev. Rene Chastain. He later married Jude Maxey in Knox. Co. TN in 1813. Jude was the daughter of Sampson Maxey, granddaughter of Edward Maxey also from Buckingham. Elijah owned 405 acres on the branches of Sharps Creek. He served with several militias through 1807 or so with Charles Duncan, ? Payne, John Ford and John Godfrey (all apparently from Buckingham). Elijah and others moved to Burke Co. NC by 1800 before moving on to Knox, TN.
