By the way, I believe Melungeons are not Indians. I seem to recall reading somewhere they are descendants of European immigrants with dark features. Several types of Europeans are known as dark featured--I seem to recall some from Wales are known that way, others from Spain or southern France, and others. You could do a google search for Melungeons and find out more details than I can recall here.

Hi, Jim--Give me some more info on yours, like spouse, children & their spouses, dates/places of birth/death etc of your James Taylor of Barry Co MO ca1850 & any other info you have on your Taylors that will help distinguish yours from others I know of with same given names. There's a LOT of persons named James Taylor of VA & early immigrants from England, etc.
