Subject: Is Reuben Cooper (1792) really the 4th child of Reuben Cooper (ABT 1760)?
Do you have data on Sarah, Matilda & Campbell Cooper such as birth DATES to compare to our Reuben W. Cooper b. 1792 in Brunswick Co. VA? We summarized our findings from National Archives in Washington D.C that Elizabeth and Reuben Cooper 1760 had a 4th child. Can you help us with data to prove it? Thank you in advance, Kathlyn G. Watters of OH and Kris N. Wilson of FL

We would really love to prove that Reuben (1792) is the 4th child of Reuben (1760). The following is the raw data I collected and assumptions I have made. For sure Reuben (1792) Cooper is our kin because his son is Lewis VanRansiller Cooper, our great grandfather. This is from the 1850 census.
I found the 1850 – 1830 Census logs I kept from 1981 when we lived in Fairfax, VA.. In 1850 they first started putting everyone’s names with exact ages in. So in the 1850 census we can see Wilmot Sherman Cooper (1884-1961)'s Dad, Lewis Van Ransiller Cooper and his grandfather Reuben (1792).
In the Census records I could only find one Reuben Cooper who matched the age in each census year of Reuben (1792). Over the decades the ages and genders matched of other members in the Reuben (1792) household. From 1820 to 1850 Reuben (1792) looses 2 wives, a father and a daughter. All other ages and genders match in the Reuben household over the 30 year span. This seemed reasonable to me.
My notes from the National Archives search say:
“Brunswick County Reuben Cooper (1760) marries Elizabeth, one child Reuben (1792) born in Brunswick; we need further verification from local records” But I can find no log of why I said Reuben (1760) is the father of Reuben (1792). Their relative ages make it possible. At 58 years old Reuben (1792) has a one year old Betsy Jane with his 3rd wife. Coopers were robust. So it seems reasonable that in 1820, Reuben (1792) still had his 60 year old father with him. But by 1830 Reuben (1760) had passed away. This says Reuben (1760) passed away after 1820 and before 1830.
In 2007 we found through Yates' on Rootsweb that Reuben Cooper 1760 had three other children: Sara, Matilda and Campbell Cooper who went to AL. Thank you, siblings Kris Wilson of FL & Kathlyn Watters of OH
