LINDSEY, CARLTON - I am looking for any available information on the LINDSEY and CARLTON families in Brunswick County. John CARLTON and William LINDSEY were both in the County in the 1750s, as eveidenced by land records. In 1757 William LINDSEY granted land on Wildcat Creek to John CARLTON. There is some reason to suppose that John's wife Agatha was a daughter of William LINDSEY, and John and Agatha named a son Lindsey CARLTON. It is also believed that John's sister Mary CARLTON married James LINDSEY, a son of William and his wife Jane ? By 1797 James LINDSEY and his sons Carlton, Caleb, John and Micajah were buying and selling land in Rutherford County NC and the Spartenburgh SC area. I am particularly interested in any information which would confirm or deny the LINDSEY/CARLTON connection amd provide clues to William and James LINDSEY's birthplaces.
