I am still looking for info on Samuel Hopkins who was appointed a major general in the Brunswick co. militia about 1798/9. He was secretary
of a Brunswick co. committee which sent a letter to Pres. George Washington to protest the signing of the Treaty with Great Britain ( Jay Treaty). There is a General Samuel Hopkins listed in the 1799 tax list for Mecklinburg co., Va.
Is this the same Samuel Hopkins who moved to Kentucky and was appointed a major general in the Ky.troops during the War of 1812?
