According to Oscar Hurt in "The Hurt family of Virginia" Zacheus Hurt, son of Moses Hurt Sr. and Ann Hurt his wife married Judith Sallard d/o Charles & Ann Sallard who moved from Richmond Co Va to Amelia Co VA in the 1760s and lived in the part of Amelia Co that became Nottaway Co VA until after the Revolutionary War when they all moved back to Richmond Co VA. Oscar Hurt lists Zacheus children as 1. Charles S. Hurt b. 1775 d. Putnam Co GA 1846, m. Sarah Hurt d/o Wm & Frances Hurt 1812. 2. Ann (Nancy) Hurt d. Tipton Co TN 1849, m. Edward Osborne Chambers s.o Wm & Sarah 3. Macon Hurt b. before 1780 d. Lunenburg Co Va 1812, m. Nancy Gunn in Lunenburg Co 1800, had 5 children 4. Elizabeth Worthard Hurt m. a Mr. Moore, d. Fulton Co MS 1884, she d. same place 1857. 5. Spencer Hurt m. Rebecca Abercrombie PUtnam Co GA 1817, d. 1849 Putnam Co GA 6. Judith Hurt m. Hugh Campbell, moved to Giles Co TN ca 1810, d. Hinds Co MS 1860. 7. Zacheus HUrt d. Tipton Co TN between 1846 & 1849, m. Elizabeth Chambers d/o Wm & Sarah Osborne Chambers. 8. SAmuel Hurt, tentative son, living in Giles Co TN when Zacheus, Ann, Judith were there.
I am descended from MOses Hurt Sr. Moses Hurt Jr. Garland Hurt, John Garland Hurt, George William HUrt and my mother Mary Hurt.
I do not know much about Moses Hurt Sr. except that he died 1783 in Amelia Co VA, was the sone of William Hurt (the elder), who was the son of John Hurt, s/o William Hurt the immigrant.
