Hyde Park was built by John Fowlkes- There were also plantations in Amelia Co. My aunt owned some land which belonged to the "Buddy" Fowlkes family. The Jennings family owned a plantation called Jennings Ordinary which is still there. State has a book called Va Was Their Home -all about Fowlkes family.
