FOUNDATIONS

Hi
I recently purchased the foundation set, and I seem to be having a lot of problems, The foundation seems to rub of very easy, and can get quite greasy looking also the colours appear really white, in natural light as well as in photo's.
Should I be using a setting powder to stop it rubbing off? also I was wondering why are all six different consistency's some are quite thick and others very thin, any help would be greatly appreciated.
