I had brought Dutch Mantel in for a shot. He was a surprise tag partner and when he came into the "arena" it was the loudest pop we had ever had. When I was paying him he said why don't you hire me to book for you? And me, not knowing loyalty was a rare thing in wrestling said no I should stick with who I have.BIG mistake for several reasons. More on that later. There was a building on Nolensville Road I leased. We did a lot of fixing up, but it still needed work. We only ran there twice, because unknown to me the booker I kept instead of hiring Dutch turned us into codes. I found out when Pop Gauldin, who supplied the ring came to me and said he was told by the booker he needed to get his ring out of the building because codes was going to padlock the building, He did and they did. Sad, because we were packed for those 2 shows. On the hunt for a venue again. I went to the Woodbine community center and talked to the director, Kathy Dodd. We made a deal to run on Friday nights. We were there for nearly a year until it came crashing down. Metro has a rule that for profit ventures cannot use city owned buildings. Kathy had no idea either. She called me with the news. Seems one of Metros attorneys had seen one of my television commercials and called her to cancel us. I met with the attorney. No luck. The councilman for the district called him and told him to please reconsider, that for a couple of hours on Friday nights he knew the area kids weren't out tagging buildings. The attorney told him if he let me use a city owned building he'd have to let everybody. No dice. Next up,,, on the move AGAIN
