Someone sent this to me today, it's from Chase Stevens' Myspace page. Chase is clearly not happy with the quality of pro wrestling training going on today. This is not meant as a knock on Chase, but in the blog Chase mentions himself along with Dory Funk, Harley Race, and OVW as the only places that train people right. I just don't think Chase is held in as high reguard as a trainer as those he mentioned himself with. I know Les Thatcher has had great things to say about Chase as a talent, but when you ask about the great trainers of today in the USA, I don't hear people saying "Chase Stevens". Anyhow, here's his blog....

To all so called wrestling trainers.................
If you are a wrestling TRAINER and you have never even come close to the big leagues than how in the hell are you going to train someone and give them the time, training, and knowledge to get there??? Just give it up, make your money on your regular job and quit stealing peoples money.
I walk into promotions day in and day out and watch training classes being taught wrong, walked through, and half assed. This is a damn sport and if you trainers would learn how to train right than the wrestlers at these shows would be in better shape, know more, travel more, and have the chance to make more of themselves and if they cant do the training cause its to much, than atleast when they walk out the doors they still repect the SPORT.
I dont need to name names of the trainers I know that are total morons because you know who you are. Just quit training and pass the people who want to train on to actual trainers that know more thn just a few basics and someone who actually lives as a wrestler not a weekend worrior.
I know of a few actual trainers left that do train and help. Dory Funk, OVW, Harley Race, and me are the only people who have actual schools that I can think of that actually train right. I know there is more good trainers but Im not sure if they are still training these days. The guys I am talking about all was a name in the biz and at one time taught but I think most retired from the buisness side along time ago.
You trainers need to contact Less Thatcher and learn the little things in this sport before ever teaching.
1. How is a head lock actually applied??? Palm up, or palm down???? Why??
2. What is the drop down for???? Why???
3. What workouts should one do to gain weight, loose weight???
4. Whats a good diet for me????
These are a few basic questions that not many trainers can answer right without blowing smoke up someones ass.
Bottom line if your a trainer reading this you know if your the real deal or a bullshitter. If your a bullshitter than give up your training school cause your doing nothing but hurting a sport more than what it already is. We dont need more lazy wrestlers in this sport we need more athletes that are hungry to be a professional.
I welcome all to comment. Im sure this will stir some egos but its the way it is. Ill be happy to watch any session that you train too and tell you wether or not your training the right ways.
I paid my dues the hard way in this sport and I expect the same from anyone else coming into this sport. Dues are not paid in a few weeks, its yrs doing what it takes and learning without complaining, its not easy and its not suppose to be. Professionals have nothing to do with money it has to do with doing your job no matter how rough your day is or how hard your life is. your to step away from reality for a period of time and do your best.
