Who's punishing anyone? If you have an arrangement with the promoter that involves a percentage of the door, then you'd be justified in expecting more money for a large door. If you don't have that arrangement, and the promoter wants to give you a bonus above and beyond that because the door was so good, then that's great. Again, it swings the other way, the promoter shouldn't pay less than the agreed payday when the door is down.
