So you are of the opinion that we should volunteer our free time, which some of us get far too little of, to so someone else's job for them? Also, when said houses are up, the envelope is filled with the same amount of money. Since working in Nashville, I have never gotten a raise based on a good house, which is typically why I refuse to take a pay cut when they are down. It goes back to the old saying "time=money". My time is valuable to me. If you want it, you pay for it. I've been burned enough where I'm done doing favors, and I know a lot of the boys feel the same way. Now, you and I have not had words this entire time, just expressed our opinions, so I hope you don't think of this as a shot at you, because it's not. It's just the opinion of an independent contractor living a dream.
As far as no budget for advertising, I find that excuse used a lot down here, but my experiences in KY and IN, the advertise and draw relatively well, and don't rely on trainees.
I ran a show about 4 years back, and I put flyers up all around Murfreesboro, Smyrna, and LaVergne. I made them myself, copied them off for free @ MTSU (hell yes), and handed them out at my shoot job. Promoting is hard work, but unlike some promoters, I did it. I also ran budgets for the card, the concession stand, the rent, and the ring. All my guys got paid and I left with a little money in my pocket. The show was not a huge success, but it was mine. I never asked the wrestlers to flyer, because it wasn't there job.
Hence why you've never seen another show run by me, lol. Promoting/booking/and working is too much for me.
