I complained of dizziness to my ENT last fall, after a serious ear infection. After tests they found a pit tumor. I was sent to a neurologist who didn't think it was involved and wanted to watch it. I was also sent for physical therapy to learn how to walk without falling down. Over the course of the past 6 months I have lost a great deal of my peripheral vision in both eyes but it is atypical of the way people with pit tumors usually lose vision. My dizziness has also become more severe and I've had to take a leave of absence from work. In addition (and aside) to this I was recently diagnosed with myasthenia gravis (an autoimmune disease totally unrelated to the tumor). I also present atypically with this disease. My neurologist decided it was time to send me to a neurosurgeon, the neurosurgeon said the tumor was behind the pituitary and pushing it to the right. He wasn't sure if it was touching the optic nerve. He sent me to a neuro-opthalmologist who was much more interested in the myasthenia gravis - he said it was a hobby of his. (?) The man gave me the color vision test, you know the one that has pictures or numbers in dots and you have to say what you see? Well when I looked with one eye I apparently got a lot of the numbers wrong and THE DOCTOR PROCEEDED TO YELL AT ME THAT IT WASN'T THAT NUMBER WHAT NUMBER COULD IT BE UNTIL I COULD GUESS THE RIGHT NUMBERS! He then wrote up a report that stated the I had no vision defects. He wants to pursue the myasthenia personally and now, because of his report, the neurosurgeon refuses to operate on me. Has anybody ever had that test? Has anybody ever had a doctor scream at them like that? That can't be normal.
Now, I'm so dizzy that I can't work, I can't function, I can't read, I can't watch TV, I can't really see very well and no one's willing to operate because I don't present in a typical fashion. Does anyone know of anyone who can help me?
