Well I don't know if anyone out there is going to read my little blog, but I am going to sit here and type away until I get out what I need to get out. In the spring I was diagnose with a pituitary gland tumor that is benign. It was joyous news strangly. After my initial MRI my neurologist gave me the "OR" senario. Either you have a tumor OR there is bleeding in your brain. HMMM, this is a no-brainer...let's pray that I have a tumor and not blood on the brain. Never in a million years did I ever imagine I would feverishly praying to have a tumor. Obviously my prayers were answers and I sit here today with a small tumor somewhere deep beneath my skull and to be perfectly honest, I'm okay with that. What I'm not okay with is the symptoms. I'm ALWAYS tired. Yes I remember mother and teachers correcting us to never use the words always and never, but this is no exaggeration. I am fatigued. I will lie down at night exhausted at a day full of minimal tasks to only be awaken after a "full-night's" rest to be just as tired and fatigued as I was the evening prior. My list of complaints goes on and on but let me get back to case in point I am not okay with watchful waiting. We (the doctors, loved ones, and I) are just going to see what happens with my tumor. Eventually (meaning up to 30 years as so explained to me) I will have the tumor removed, but for now "I'm sorry there isn't much we can do for you." Let retest you in 6 months to see how this tumor reacts. REACTS? Reacts to what honestly? Now granted let's give my endo doc half a kudo point for not praticing bad medicine. It is know that presence of growth hormone is non-existent in my blood work, cause is not determined. Either the tumor has cause production to seize or the bodies natural defenses have rallied up to slow down the growth of the hormone, either reason outcome is still the same...no growth hormone = lower metabolism, muscle loss and difficulty in repair, excessive weight gain due to FAT! So thankfully my doctor felt it was 1. unnecessary to perform the test to determine the reason of lack of growth hormone. See no matter what the cause would be the simple cure would all point to giving me doses of growth hormone. Common sense would tell any logical educated person that, but also would denote that if one is given growth hormone then the tumor is given growth hormone as well and would begin to thrive. Therefore causing the initial problem to erupt into a much more massive complex issue involving many more symptoms, etc etc etc. To whomever shall read this thank you very kindly for listening to me vent and tell my epiloge.
