Posted by LP Side Note: (Jan '07) Just got out of the hospital at the end of last week. Went to the emergency room and then admitted to ICU for the first time since 2004. I developed an upper respiratory infection that my body could not fight off. Swore that I would never be put back in the hospital...Only if they caught be first. I hate to admitt it but I had to raise the white flag and go anyway. I stayed four days with three docs having different opinions. I am grateful to be at home now but once again dealing with extreme fatique and weakness 24/7. The stay in the hospital also brought back haunting memories that I try to keep at bay from my first time in 2004. However, now I am having to relive the whole ordeal all over again. Will this long road ever end?

I am not familiar with Bromocryptine so I appologize for the lack of knowledge on my part. My tumor was only prolcatin driven. Before surgery Dostinex did not stop the growth of tumor however it did bring my prolactin levels down from 7,800. Post surgery it has kept them way down in the normal range almost non-existent at times. As far as surgery vs med management that would depend on your case. I did not have a choice. I either had the craniotomy or the un-mentionable. The surgery itself is extremely rough especially if the entire gland has to be removed. I had several complications to make matters worse. I lost most of my vision and developed diabetes incipidus etc. not to mention the entire breakdown of the endocrine system because of the loss of the entire pit gland. Take into account that you may not be feeling well but things could be worse. I know that that is not very comforting but because of our illness we have to find a new normal the best we can. Please take the time to do your research. Please keep in touch.
