I had a pituitary tumor at the age of 15 and I am now 23. I had a biopsy and radiation and now have no pituiary gland. I am on cortisone, thyroid, the pill, and growth hormone injections. This is where I get confused...
I am having monthly menstrual cycles because I'm on the birth control pill which has the estrogen and progesterone hormones. Having a monthly cycle was my decision. My endo says I can get on other estrogen and progesterone meds and not have a menstral cycle and I'd be fine without a period. My oncologyst disagrees-he says I'd end up with ovarian cancer. So there's one of my questions...should I have a monthly menstral cycle or not? One doc says yes and one says no.
My second question is how important are these growth hormones? I'm job searching right now and I don't know what kind of benefits I will have. If the GH are really important and I need to stay on them, how am I supposed to pay for them? So there's questions two and three: how important are the growth hormones? and how am I supposed to pay for them? If there's anybody out there that can answer these three questions, please help!
