Posted by Leah To address your daughters symptoms, such as dry skin and hair loss (I had dry skin too), my doctor told me that it's like being pre-menopausal. The elevated prolactin levels trick your body into thinking you're pregnant. Because of this there is a decreased level of estrogen/progesterone and the body begins to have menopausal symptoms. The bright side is, after about two weeks of drug therapy, my headaches finally went away. All the other symptoms slowly subsided as well. I take .5 mg of Dostinex twice a week for my tumor... and all is well

To begin with, I did have the headache problem as your daughter did. That's actually how I ended up going to the doctor. I also had not had a menstrual cycle in quite sometime (7+ months). After I told the doctor of my headaches, and nothing except Vicodin would make them go away, she decided to do MULTIPLE blood tests. After the results came back, she noticed that I had an elevated Prolactin level. From there, I had an MRI done, and it was discovered that I had a tumor.
I wish your daughter the best, I know it's very stressful and many people don't understand. Keep my posted on her prognosis, I'm a pre-med student and endocrinology has caught my attention since I became ill. Good luck.
