Wauchula Woman, I hope you come back and see this. I am almost 50 and have been unable to work since 1998, due to fibromyalgia, arthritis and severe asthma, plus a few other problems like spinal stenosis. I live in CA and even when I've been unemployed there has always been a county program for single persons that has covered my Rx's. Now I am on SSI. It took 7 years to get my case settled and I lost some of the back pay for it due to poor counseling from one of my lawyers. But, my Rx's are covered by Medi-Cal and 25 months after my Medi-Cal became valid I'll also be covered by Medi-Care. I also have been on Food Stamps more than once.
So, things aren't perfect, but some of us citizens are covered by the government, so please don't just blame the illegal immigrants. The immigrants often have their kids here, which makes the kids citizens. Some of it isn't fair, I know, and I've had some struggles myself, but it isn't all against those of us who are legal citizens.
A sister in the Lord,
Debbie
