Maybe we need a pitching lane. The width of the rubber. If the pitcher is hit while in the lane directly behind the rubber then the batter sits out the rest of the game.
Now if the pitcher moves out of the pitching lane then there is no penalty.
As far as the ball, its the same ball many said was too soft in Myrtle Beach, Euless, and Viera at Worlds last year. So its just too humidity sensitive. Utrip does have a new ball that was rumored to be tested at a conference event this year, but I haven't heard anymore about it recently.
But yes, way too many pitchers being hit especially last weekend.
The one source pitcher had some wearable padding. And I think Brandon Jonas wears padding.
