Re: Time is passing you by, shoulda hung them up. don't get pissed when you get drilled
Dumb, Wessup, and what happened are all correct. AP didn't get in KO's face. He yelled Yes, Yes and then said something along the lines of, Wait until tomorrow when I can see MF'er. He never got within 15' of KO. The slide, push and benches clearing, the umpire didn't even know where Big John came from. Said he ran from the on deck circle when he was on 1B. Just my opinion, but it never should have came to that because if the rules that apply to others were enforced in this game, AP would have been tossed before that when he yelled #### several times and threw his bat 50mph at the fence. I understand these guys have 'earned' some leniency, but don't make rules if they aren't going to be enforced. And if 1 umpire comes on here and says that it is not different for some players than others, they are flat out wrong and I will give every example I have seen in person. But when you have some players get tossed and warned for saying ####, GD, etc and others not have anything said to them at all, it shows. I got warned for saying that our team has got to be the best f'ing double play hitting team in the Conference and didn't even say it loud enough but for who was in a 10' radius to hear it. Then hear other players yell it loud enough to hear it on the other field, come on, either enforce it or realize that we are all grown men competing and tempers are gonna flare. I personally like the 'let it go to an extent' attitude of most umpires as long as they are ALL on the same page.
As far as everyone saying JB, AP, and Luis are soft or whatever. I can't speak on AP, he is a big dude and totally different when off the field so he may not be one too quick to fight. But if you are gonna mess with him, you gonna have to fight the whole crew. Reyna will fight with anyone and can hold his own, guy got some hands. JB isn't someone you want to grab ahold of, dude has got to be strong as a bull and don't give 2 shits.
At the end of the day, it looks like it was all left on the field and between the lines as it should be. I grew up watching the 'Golden Age' of softball and there were way more real fights than there are in today's game.
All in all it was a great weekend of softball. DW was doing his thing as usual. The director and field crew busted their asses to keep the tournament going when they could have easily sent the LB home and finish the WB on Sunday. Pretty nice complex overall with plenty of places to eat and things to do close by. One suggestion, fix concession where you have 2-3 lines or at least 1 line dedicated to drinks. It was tough to get the guys some waters during the game sometimes cause of the line. So I hear it is going all turf and will have a year break from this tournament which will be nice when they get done with it.
