I never knew Jeff was named to the 40 year fist team as one of the top 23 players to EVER play in the West Coast Conference over its first 40 years. One of the top baseball conferences at its time.
I never knew jeff has the fourth most strike outs for a career in all the years of the WCC even though he only pitched three seasons before he blew his arm DURING his junior season. Jeff told me it happened while pitching against Fresno state at Fresno state.
If you google SMC gaels.com jeff Peterson..a teammate talks about him being 6'8"....
I didn't know jeff was the national college baseball association pitcher of the year in 82 while he struck out 139 batters and walked 32..one of the best of the best in strike out walk ration in WCC history
I didn't remember him being a first team sporting news all American..I think they named ten college players to that all
American list of ALL the college players.
I didn't remember he was a three time NCBA all American.
But..I do remember them saying he was 6'8"...
I also remember Jeff saying you know what they say about being tall with big hand and feet? No brains...
They said he had a 3.5 gpa while graduating in business.
I do remember jeff weighted 260 pounds because we used to have weight contests when we checked in at the luggage check at the airport..that way we could make fun of who was getting fatter...
All I know is...he was as gifted an athlete as ever graced the softball field..even with a blown out arm that reduced his pitch speed from 98 to maybe 85 mph. Yet somehow we was drafted with a blown out arm and one year as a hitter playing first base his senior year where he led a very good team in homeruns.
