When do you solidify your rep choices for UIL? Are you consistent with when you finalize your program or does it change year to year? Do you recall when you finalized closer to contest than you had intended?

My program is usually picked out and finalized before Christmas. If a piece isn't coming together during January rehearsals, I'll have a backup piece in mind as well.
When I have early UIL (first week of March), I would program one of the pieces, usually the march, on my Winter concert/holiday program as well, in addition to the other holiday pieces.
I don't remember what it's like to go to UIL in April (or even May!) anymore - it's been a decade or more. But it means we can do some REALLY off-the-wall and tricky stuff for our end of year concert.
It's especially important if you go to UIL early and you have every other day block scheduling.
If I was doing a multi-movement work, I would make sure that what I entered had the flexibility of dropping a movement and keep within the required PML if I felt things weren't going to come together in time.
