We spend the first 6-8 weeks of school working on theory, mouthpieces, and MAYBE 1-2 notes. By the the end of the 12th week of school, we had 3 notes with good tone. Once that good tone was established, we finally moved on to concert C and B-flat this week. Since they have the fundamentals in place, or are at least continuing to polish them, the Christmas concert music should be no problem. If you are cramming concert music down their throats, there may have been some flaws in the methods used at the beginning of the year. |
