I'll see your crazy thought, and go even crazier:
1. Eliminate the pre-season scrimmage games, and start the regular season right away (mid-August).
2. Eliminate two non-district games, and play an 8 game regular season. Playoffs are only determined by district play anyway.
Doing that will place the State Championship games on Thanksgiving week.
It will also help those small school basketball teams that schedule bball games the week after the regular football season ends. They might actually be able to practice and not lose 700-0.
My favorite part about the football system down in these parts is the bit where even on your worst year you will still more than likely go to playoffs because they don't have enough teams to fill the brackets. It's stupid.
Here's a crazy thought: How about instead of having all those useless preseason games that waste everyone's time at the start of the semester, we just start district games right away so nobody has to give up time with family at Thanksgiving for an asinine sporting event that your football team definitely did not earn but got anyway by default.
Yes, I am salty as heck. Can you tell? Lol!
That is a beautiful thing! A beautiful thing! While I'm off to at least one playoff game!
