Acoustical flooring will do little to contain sound in the room. More attention to how it escapes and blocking it there would be more effective. i.e.: door seals, glass, wall insulation, look in ceiling for separation over walls. Use heavy curtains for doors & windows, stuff rolled insulation in ceiling between common walls, anyplace air passes through will also leak sound. inside walls are seldom insulated (blown-in insulation could help here. shared HVAC vents are also a problem, but solutions are expensive, better to address that and the common wall reaching the roof during construction phase.
These are things I have encountered in my career of 42 years.
Does anyone have any experience with having to add acoustical flooring to a room? Our percussion room bleeds really bad into the main rehearsal hall.
