Re: Private Lesson Price

I offered lessons in brass instruments and theory/composition. This was not in a big area, so there were not many lesson teachers, especially theory, so the ability to teach multiples was valuable. |
Pricing was really low. I chose $16 because in reality it was 15, but the next option was lower than 15 which isn't accurate. Pricing varied depending on the student, within reason. Some students, if they showed promise and worked hard would be charged a lower rate if they had financial hardship (some of these students never had lessons because even $10/week was difficult). I would work with the students and parents. Rates were low enough overall that most students could pay regular rate, and because of this nobody really objected to the variable rates.
Theory lessons were almost exclusively for future music majors, as those were the only ones who asked.
Most lesson teachers in this area are from $15-20 per half hour.
I am trying to collect some data on private lesson prices across the state. I have put a poll out, please consider giving your feedback, it is greatly appreciated!
