I feel your pain!
Listen, I could use some help coordinating USBands contests in the Houston area, and I like to use retired band directors. You would have some phone calls to make the week before to make sure all the band parents and directors have everything in place and ready to go, then you'd be on the field during the contest coordinating with the band directors, the gate guard (Assistant Coordinator) and the PA announcer to make sure the contest runs on time. There will be some "before" and "after" contest responsibilities. We do pay you for your time, although it's not that much-but you are helping band directors and kids have a great contest and having fun!
I should mention that you'll also coordinate with a person from YEA in Allentown who is the overall contest manager-mostly just a series of phone calls. At the contest they'll be outside the stadium and up in the pressbox taking care of the "business" side of the contest, you'll be on the field taking care of bands and directors.
I'll be happy to come meet for coffee or other beverage and go over all the details over the summer. The two contests I'm looking for help with are in Baytown on September 29th and Spring on Oct. 6, and Robert and Trent, staffs. and parents are exceptionally well-prepared and experienced and their contests run smoothly!
Coordinating contests is my favorite USBands job...I love meeting and greeting the band directors!

I broke my wrist and lower arm falling in water in my home during Hurricane Harvey. I missed so much school I finally just retired in Dec. 2017. I thought my hand wouldn't heal, but it did!! I did take retirement and have been getting a check. Can I go back to work yet? What would you do if you were me? I have set here and watched everything on TV that is possible, I have prayed and gone to church more than ever, but I really miss teaching music!! I want a job or just something to do. I am only 56 and totally bored!
