2. No. I also work in a Hispanic-dominated school, where they tend to call teachers "Miss" or "Mister" without their last name. I make it a point of emphasis that they call me by my last name, or at least last initial, with Mr. in front.
3. I've been wanting a new personal main instrument for a decade now. However, I don't perform often enough to justify the expense. My old warhorse circa 1995 Bach Strad still plays fine. I do wind up getting a new mouthpiece every five to ten years or so, since I wear off the plating/want to try something different. I love what I played on the Adams horns a few years ago, and wanted to buy one - but then I got married, had kids, and now I don't have spare money.
I have, however, in the past decade and a half+, picked up a new C trumpet and a new flugel, since I didn't have a good one of either before. Does that count?
