This is a fun one that sounds like it would fit your group. Some long exposed tuning spots, but those are mostly between CL, FL, and TPT. |
: Generally the band is solid, but the issue is
: a thin low brass section, 3 trombones, 2
: baritones and 2 tubas. We have low reeds (3
: tenors, 2 bari's, 3 bass clarinets) but I
: don't want the low reed sound to be the
: dominant sound in low passages unless it's
: meant to be played that way.
: We get started after Christmas break and
: come back to work on UIL music. We go to
: contest in early march and the kids are in
: and out for various activities during those
: 8 weeks.
: In the past, I've usually done a 2 and a 1
: with a medium march, but trying to push the
: programming slightly. Many of the pieces on
: the 2 list are in our wheelhouse however
: when the tb parts are split and not doubled
: with baritone, I have many questions in how
: much that will thin us out. I know that
: there is some challenging grade 1
: literature, so any suggestions on that list
: would be appreciated.
: I'm looking at pieces like
: Danza de Espana
: Tanchozuru (split LB part)
: Wind Storm
: Black Forest Overture
: Fireball (split LB)
: We have played Portrait of a Clown, Japanese
: Pictures and Colliding Visions in recent
: years, so those are out.
: Just looking for suggestions on literature
: or should I just stay with the current
