Totally agree with 'Honestly' above... |
It is a lot to take in at first... I have had that mixer for going on 3 seasons now and am now loving it...
One of my favorite features is that It has wireless capability that you can use to adjust levels up top where the judges' perspective is, and the intuitive design is very quick to adjust things.... (no I'm not a Mackie rep lol)
I have had some headaches with this system, but just simply because I had a lot to learn to start with.
The way the activity is going, I purchased this one to stay ahead of the digital game... this mixer is also expandable, so I like that feature. You will have headaches with everything you will ever get. (I.E. Broken knobs and sliders on a physical board, etc).
If you're a 'dope when it comes to electronics,' then you will have a lot to learn with another board too...
I recommend that you find someone to come out to your program who is well versed in electronics both outdoor and/or indoor and buy them dinner to give you some pointers! Maybe a better way to spend your money.
: I'm a dope when it comes to electronics. My
: marching field PA features a Mackey DL1608
: mixer that is controlled via iPad digital
: interface, which I HATE.
: IMO, this setup has no business in a
: marching band. It is a virtual display, so
: no tactile physical faders, just touchscreen
: faders on the iPad screen. Very difficult to
: see in bright sunlight marching contests,
: plus the damned iPad *AT UIL* insisted on
: updating its software!! Right when we were
: starting the show. Had to put it on Airplane
: mode finally to get it to shut up and work.
: I've had enough! Can you folks kindly
: recommend what mixer I should be replacing
: this with? Mine is a 16-channel unpowered I
: guess, since we have a Poweramp to use in
: conjunction with it.
: My front ensemble is 2 marimbas, 1 vibes, 2
: synths, sometimes a live mic for
: instrumentalists, and I anticipate that
: group growing in the future, perhaps adding
: another marimba and another vibes.
: Would really appreciate your gearhead
