I used the Ed Sueta Book I (beige) for beginners, Sueta Book 2 (green) for 2nd group mostly 7th graders, and Sueta Book 3 (blue) for my top band mostly 8th graders. |
We didn't play every single line, but these books were great for teaching 6/8, chorales, scales...
We had many chair tests which the kids liked.
It was cool to hear the tubas sometimes outplay the flutes on stuff like "Irish Washerwoman".
Luckily, it was on the Texas State Adopted list (FREE), kids loved it, and the HS head director swore the incoming freshmen (my babies!) could sightread like nobody's business!
