We do 7:15 am every morning and bleed right into the 1st period before letting the kids go back to the band hall a bit early to change shoes, etc.
It ends up working out to basically 7:15am-8:35 am every day.
We don't do evening rehearsals at all. The kids have too many other things going to make it effective. Work, athletics, homework, other school activities. They are distracted in the evening.
The MOST important thing about rehearsal schedule is HOW you are using your time? What is the pace? How efficient are you? You can get more done in a super efficient 45-minute rehearsal than a sloppy 2-hour block.
There are programs out there that use every bit of their 8 hour allotment + their classtime and still aren't successful. Make sure you have a plan and purpose for every minute you are out on the field. Routine is key. The kids will appreciate it, as will the staff. Respect their time and they will respect yours.
