When hiring for positions the people who receive these emails, receive a ton of emails just like this. It is easy to disregard those emails or move them down the priority list. Especially at the end of the year when we are all well aware we are booked solid on our schedules.
Some hiring people appreciate these emails and some ignore them, I wouldn't think too much about it if it happens to me. Have had it happen many times and it have had good jobs come out of it regardless. I would not call it a sign of good or bad. You are playing the odds and covering basses.
