It depends and can change based off how honest your admin wants to be should you decide to change jobs. Last year I changed to another district. All of the sudden, my superintendent started to question me as to why "I wasn't working my extra days" and that I "Had better fill out absense forms for all of those days that you missed at work." In the past he told me "I expect you to get done what you need to get done and I don't expect you to be here all of the time. If I come looking for you I'll want you to come up here." This guy has been known to take the last two checks of teachers that leave the district in similar fashion. Fortunately, I knew that it would be a rough transition out so I waited as long as I could before I resigned. Now, when it came to forcing me to drive a bus on a Friday night until 2 AM and then expecting me to be with my marching band on Saturday at 5AM for Area contest, driving them, he had no problem with ignoring that problem. Basically, I would advise you to plan on working the full contract. I took bands to state marching at this school and was treated this way at the end. These people in charge, for the most part, only care about themselves and they will try to ruin your life on the way out. I miss the great days of civility and professionalism that I saw early in my career. Some of these guys are of the Trump school of life in how they treat people.
